Ligaria is located about 21km northwest of Heraklion and 61,5chlm east of Rethymnon. In very short, just 3km west of, is another cosmopolitan resort, Agia Pelagia.

Beaches
The bay of Ligaria is protected from the wind, is a very quiet, clean and peaceful beach with turquoise waters and sand whose length of 360 meters. It is well organized and has taverns, cafes and supermarkets throughout the length. Very close is the beach of Agia Pelagia, approximately 450 meters which is among the most beautiful beaches of Crete and is also characterized by similar quality waters.
Sights
Ligaria is a quiet destination. On the beach you can enjoy water sports and diving, and 12km west is the beautiful village of Fodele. There is the Museum of El Greco, hosting replicas of famous creations of the great Renaissance painter. Agia Pelagia is a very good choice for an afternoon or evening walk, lunch or coffee on the pedestrian street next to the beach.
